I am working with students to assess their current reading levels. With 23 students this process takes some time but it is a very special 1-1 time with each student. While I am meeting with students the rest of the class is working on their reading workshop stations. After I have assessed all the students we will begin instructional reading groups. It has been a lot of fun to listen to your children read and talk about the books.
This week we started reading workshop stations. Ask your child what his/ her favorite station is!
First station: Reading books at their independent reading level
Second station (changes daily):
This fall I will be a Cooperating Teacher for two Boston College undergraduate student teachers in the Education Program. Ms.Sypek will be with us on Tuesdays and Ms. Brock will be with us on Thursdays. We are excited to welcome them to Baker School.
On Friday, 1-L learned how to be good, safe digital citizens today. We watched a Disney Movie called Safety Smart with Timon and Pumbaa. First graders learned to be good digital citizens they use their brains, their hearts, and their feet!
1-L was very excited to attend the annual Baker School Convocation on Friday. It is a special school wide assembly for all grade K-8. The older students share goals for the upcoming school year. We enjoyed listening to our Principal, Dr. Brown, and Vice Principals, Mrs. Rodriguez-Hutson and Mr. Fowler. We welcome Mr. Fowler for his first year at Baker School.
