Every month I post our monthly schedule on the home page. We have many early release days this month and a few days off. Please make sure to mark your calendars.
The first grade blogs are up and running! At home, please view your child's blog and post a comment. Your children are enjoying publishing their work online and it would be a wonderful opportunity for them to show you what they are learning in first grade. Blogs can be found on this site on the right side (if you are on a iPad or phone they may be at the bottom). Happy Blogging!
The first graders have been working on a class goal- Stop, look, and listen when they hear the chime. The chime is a way for the teacher to get student's attention and announce the next set of instructions. The first graders worked cooperatively towards this goal and they really enjoyed bringing their stuffed animals to first grade. Throughout the day they taught their stuffed animals the classroom rules, how to read, do math, and listen on the rug.
Thank you to Mr. Richardson (Mrs. Richardson's husband 1-R) for teaching us about Veterans Day. Mr. Richardson served in the Navy and showed us his hat as well as Mrs. Richardson's military coat from WWI.
We read a movie about Veterans Day and watched a power point. The first graders enjoyed learning about Veterans Day- Army, Coast Guard, Navy, Marines and Air Force. Look in the hallway to see our projects!
The first graders voted during Election Day! Every first grader voted to watch a movie about sound. First graders made campaign tags, voted in the election ballot box, and blogged on our first grade blogs.
The choices for this election were:
Magic School Bus won the most votes and we watched the movie in 1-L.!
