This month we learned about Mexico. Last week we made maracas with plastic eggs, tape, spoons, rice, corn, and tissue paper. It took a number of days to make the maracas and today they were finally dry and ready to be used.
Today the students learned how to play their maracas. Students had a lot of fun watching and learning from a professional musician on YouTube. The musician showed us different techniques to make different sounds. It was a perfect way to celebrate Cinco de Mayo! We learned the Mexican Hat Dance and played freeze dance with our maracas too. I know you will enjoy listening to your first grader play at home!
