We've been working on the following consonant digraphs in class:
wh - whistle - /w/ ck - sock - /k/
th - thumb - /th/ sh - ship - /sh/
ch - chin - /ch/
This week, we learned the Bonus Letter Rule. When a one syllable word ends in an f, l, or s, a second f, l, or s is added when spelling the word (known as the bonus letter). Of course there are some words that are rule breakers such as: yes and bus.
We are also learning the glued sound of "all" this week. You can hear this sound in the words ball, tall, and wall.
Trick words: you, your, I, they, was, one, said
Students are working hard and practicing all of these Word Study concepts on a daily basis!
