Mystery Reader!
The Mystery Reader Program is a great way for families to stay connected to our first grade classroom. Every Friday, a parent, family member, or other special person in one of our 1L students' lives comes to read 1-2 picture books to us. The best part is that no one knows the identity of the Mystery Reader until they walk in the door.
Family Share!
Family Share in 1L is a special way for families to share their culture with the class. Our students and teachers love to learn about what makes your family unique and the special traditions you have. Your family's culture is important, and we encourage you to share it with us and it helps us to build our classroom community.! Please note, Family Share does not have to be a secret from your child; especially if your child will help prepare the share and/ or present to the class:

Ideas for sharing your family's culture with the class may include, but are not limited to:
- reading a book(s) that shows your family's culture
- showing family photos
- sharing special music
- using a map to highlight areas of the world that are important to your family
- showing traditional clothing or other artifacts
- leading the class in a brief craft project (prepare and provide all materials ahead of time)
- making a google slide presentation to share with the class
MYSTERY READER CLUES:
- Prepare 3 clues about the mystery reader and put them on the slides, click here Mystery Reader Presentation Link.
- Clue 1 is the relationship to the first grader. (e.g. I am the mother of a first grader.)
- Clue 2 and Clue 3 are facts about the first grader that would help the other children guess which child’s relative/friend is the mystery reader. (e.g. This first grader plays for the Flames soccer team.)
- Insert a photo of the mystery reader (with the first grader if possible).
- Submit your presentation to [email protected] a few days before.
